Today we began labour disputes in our Social Studies classes. Students were split into teams and squared off in order to improve workers' rights, or conversley, work to benefit the company!

After a bit of a nervous start everyone get into their groove and negotiations began in earnest. The goal of the activity is firstly, perspectives; for students to take the point of view of a character and see the world through their eyes.

As well as this, students understand why Unions were created originally back in the 1800s, the conditions the workers faced and the purpose of unions today. Students are evaluated on a diary they keep of the scenario so even if the opposition wipes the floor with them, they don't lose out!

As usual, achievement points are involved - meet your (secret) targets and get the points!
